Fife Championship
The FIFe championship is subdivided into Categories, Groups, and Classes.
CATEGORIES: This is the division by breed.
43 breeds are recognized by FIFe, and they are divided into 5 categories:
CATEGORY 1: Long-haired breeds
CATEGORY 2: Semi-long-haired breeds
CATEGORY 3: Short-haired breeds
CATEGORY 4: Oriental and hairless breeds
CATEGORY 5: Domestic (mixed breed)
Check this link for the complete official list.
GROUPS: Colors and Varieties
Each breed has a color-based group division, which we call Varieties. These groups have identification numbers according to the breed's rules. At a show, if there are 3 or more cats from the same group and breed, the judge may select the cat that best represents this group and award it the BEST IN VARIETY (BIV) prize.
If, during judging, the judge determines that your cat's group is incorrect, the cat must change groups and restart the competition in the new class.
You can check the groups for each breed at this link.
